case study  -  Industrial Chic

The objective was to create a modern interior with industrial elements, yet incorporating vintage collections from around the world into the 2000 sqft apartment. Taking into consideration these details, we found many potential in the massaging of spaces with the interplay of objects and ideas during the planning.

Our approach focuses on the use of finishes throughout the apartment, with printed tiles and cement screed flooring in the main areas. One of the wall at the living hall was treated with brick-liked textured panels, while the other with textured wooden panels, contrasting from the off-white walls in the remaining zones. Walnut timber strip was used in the bedroom floor for a warm touch as our client wanted a softer and cozy outlook.

The customized furniture are mainly white, with some inserts of display compartments to allow showcasing of the client's ornate collections. The originally unfinished outdoor courtyard was decked over as an extension of the interior space and as an alfresco courtyard for light meals so the couple could also enjoy the greeneries.

The result was a harmonious fusion between contemporary and industrial themed interior, with interplay of eastern and western, old and new furniture pieces.
